Packers Salute to Service Jersey Honors Jack Podlesny
The Green Bay Packers will honor former player Jack Podlesny with a special Salute to Service jersey during the 2017 season. The jersey will be worn during the team’s annual Salute to Service game, which will be held on November 12th against the Chicago Bears.
Podlesny was a member of the Packers from 1961 to 1968 and was a key member of the team’s “Lombardi Era.” He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1960s.
After his playing career, Podlesny served as the Packers’ player personnel director from 1970 to 1998 and was responsible for drafting some of the team’s greatest players, including Hall of Famers Brett Favre and Reggie White.
The Packers’ Salute to Service jersey is a way to honor Podlesny’s service to the team and to the country. The jersey is olive and camo and features Podlesny’s number, 46, on the front and back. The jersey also has a special patch on the chest that features the American flag and the words “Salute to Service.”
The Packers will wear the Salute to Service jersey during their game against the Bears on November 12th. The game will be broadcast live on NBC at 1:00 PM ET.
