Description
Eddy Pineiro is a placekicker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He wears jersey number 4 and played college football at Florida.
Pineiro was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2018 after going unselected in the NFL Draft. However, he was waived during final roster cuts and later claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears. In his first season with the Bears, Pineiro connected on 23 of 28 field goal attempts and all but one of his extra point tries.
Before joining the NFL, Pineiro had a successful career at Florida, where he set several school records for kicking accuracy. He made 38 of 43 field goals (88.4%) during his time with the Gators, including a long of 54 yards.
In March 2021, Pineiro signed with the Panthers as a free agent. He will compete for the starting kicker job with incumbent Joey Slye during training camp.
The “Olive Youth Stitched NFL Limited 2017 Salute To Service” designation on Pineiro’s jersey indicates that it is part of the NFL’s annual Salute to Service campaign, which honors members of the military and their families. The olive green color scheme is meant to evoke the uniforms worn by servicemembers.
