Description
Blake Cashman is a linebacker for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He wears the number 53 and plays the white jersey as part of the team’s Color Rush uniforms, which are worn during select games throughout the season. Cashman was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Minnesota. In his rookie season, he played in nine games and recorded 18 tackles before being placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury.
In October 2020, Cashman was traded from the Jets to the Texans in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Since joining the Texans, Cashman has been primarily used as a backup linebacker and special teams contributor. He has appeared in eight games for the Texans so far this season, recording four tackles.
Cashman’s limited playing time with the Texans may be due in part to the fact that he missed most of training camp and the preseason while recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. The season goes on.
